Arsenal is still keeping Joao Cancelo on their recruitment radar and planning another transfer raid on Manchester City.
In 2022, the Gunners successfully lured Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko away from the Etihad Stadium, thanks to shrewd recruitment.
This allowed the north London outfit to emerge as Premier League title challengers. In the current transfer window, Mikel Arteta has strengthened his ranks with a substantial investment in Kai Havertz.
GIVEMESPORT claims that Arsenal is closing in on a club-record £105 million ($133m) deal to acquire West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
However, they are also considering targeting Joao Cancelo. In the past, Arsenal has tried to sign the Portuguese international and highly regards his versatility to excel in both right-back and left-back positions.
Other reports suggest that the Gunners are also showing interest in Jurrien Timber, a versatile defender from Ajax who can play as a centre-half or right-back. However, they are not the only club expressing interest in Timber. During Cancelo’s loan move to Bayern Munich in January, the club included a purchase option of €70m. However, if a formal offer is made, City is expected to accept a reduced fee.
After joining City from Juventus in 2019, Cancelo has made 154 appearances for the Blues and won the Premier League title three times. However, it seems that he has no future in Manchester and is now reportedly drawing interest from Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions.
