Brighton has officially confirmed the signing of Bart Verbruggen, the Netherlands Under-21 goalkeeper, from Anderlecht.
The 20-year-old shot-stopper has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the club, solidifying his future at the Amex Stadium.
Despite breaking into Anderlecht’s first team in December, Verbruggen immediately impacted and was named the club’s player of the season for the previous campaign.
His contributions helped Anderlecht reach the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League. Additionally, Verbruggen debuted for the Dutch Under-21 national team last month and received a call-up to the senior squad in March, highlighting his rising talent.
Seagulls head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “I am very pleased to have signed Bart.
“He is used to playing a type of football similar to ours and he will have no problem fitting into our group.
“He has the potential to become a very important player for the club in the coming years.”
Verbruggen began his career with his hometown club, NAC Breda, and has also represented his country at Under-18 level.
