Montpellier rejects Chelsea’s bid for Elye Wahi

Montpellier has rejected a €27.5 million bid from Chelsea for striker Elye Wahi, but he is eager to join the Blues.

Montpellier turned down Chelsea’s initial bid for Wahi, but L’Equipe reports that the French club is willing to engage in further negotiations with Chelsea.

The striker himself is enthusiastic about the potential move, considering he scored 19 goals in Ligue 1 last season.

Atletico Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt have also shown interest in the 20-year-old, who has earned three caps for France’s U21 team. Consequently, Chelsea is pushing to finalize the deal swiftly.

While Elye Wahi has expressed his interest in moving to England, there is an anticipation that Chelsea will loan him out for the 2023-24 season, potentially to Strasbourg, their newly affiliated sister club.

With several clubs showing interest in Wahi, Chelsea will aim to finalize the deal swiftly.
