Adidas denies inaccurate reports on discussions about Mason Greenwood’s future with Manchester United.
There had been suggestions that the German sportswear giants had endorsed Greenwood’s reintegration into the first-team fold at Old Trafford.
Following charges of assault, attempted rape, and coercive and controlling behavior brought against him, they made the decision to suspend Greenwood indefinitely.
The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges in February 2023. However, despite the charges being dropped, Greenwood has remained separated from the rest of United’s squad as an internal investigation is still ongoing.
They anticipated making a decision before the start of the 2023-24 campaign, while discussing the possibility of the one-cap England international going on loan during the current transfer window.
Despite reports suggesting that Adidas had given approval for United to reintegrate Greenwood, a statement from the company refutes such claims, stating that they have not given any green light for his return.
Adidas’ statement reads: “After inaccurate and speculative reporting within the media it’s important for us to clarify that adidas has had no discussions with Manchester United regarding any member of their playing squad. We play no role in any decisions made regarding any member of the team or staff at the club.”
