Newcastle close to signing Livramento from Southampton for £40 million

Newcastle is close to finalizing the signing of Tino Livramento after Southampton accepted an offer of around £40 million ($51 million).

The negotiation process was prolonged due to Chelsea’s entitlement to a significant sell-on fee from any transfer, which led to Southampton demanding a considerable sum to secure a profitable deal for themselves.

The talented 20-year-old Livramento joined Southampton from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 for a mere £5 million ($6 million), making his potential transfer to Newcastle lucrative.

Newcastle’s busy transfer window continues with the impending move of Livramento to the club. This follows their earlier signings of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan for £60 million ($76 million) and Harvey Barnes from Leicester for £38 million ($49 million).

The start of Newcastle’s 2023-24 Premier League season is set for August 12 when they take on Aston Villa at St James’ Park.
