Man City boss Pep Guardiola isn’t surprised with Newcastle’s form and predicts them to be a threat in the EPL for years to come
Pep Guardiola claims that even in their recent poor run of form, Newcastle United have shown him why they could be a threat in the Premier League in the years to come.
Newcastle to be a top 6 contender soon?!
The Citizens managed to defeat the Magpies 2-0 at the Etihad to keep the pressure on Arsenal. However, Pep Guardiola thinks that it was a tough match for them despite the result.
“Their threat is not a surprise,” Guardiola said after City’s 2-0 win over Eddie Howe’s side. “There is a reason why they were in the Carabao Cup final and for a lot of minutes they were better than United. This team and this club in the next few years will be a threat for the title.”
“It’s Newcastle,” he added. “They are an exceptional team. The set-pieces from [Kieran] Trippier, every corner, every kick, they are in a great position.

“They have an exceptional holding midfield. [They were] in the final of the EFL Cup a week ago.
“They’ve been in the top five all season. It’s an incredible result for us, because it was a tricky game.”
Newcastle United were taken over by a Saudi Arabian consortium eighteen months ago. They have since shown incredible ambition, reaching an EFL Cup final and constantly being among the top teams in the Premier League.
