Spurs signs Argentine wonderkid striker Alejo Veliz

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the acquisition of Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central, pending international clearance and the issuance of a work permit.

The Argentinian forward becomes Spurs’ second addition on the day, subsequent to Micky van de Ven’s transfer from Wolfsburg. He marks the club’s sixth recruit for the summer.

Veliz has committed to a six-year contract and will don the No. 36 jersey for Tottenham.

Having debuted for Rosario in 2021, the 19-year-old has now joined Spurs after accumulating 62 appearances for his former club and finding the net 19 times.

He also represented his national team in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup and the Under-20 South American Championship earlier this year, contributing three goals in nine matches within that age category.

Today, Spurs will play in their last pre-season game as a preparation for the upcoming season, facing Barcelona.

The commencement of their new Premier League campaign will take place on Sunday against Brentford.
