Chelsea is on the verge of finalizing the signing of Tyler Adams, having met the £20m release clause specified in the Leeds midfielder’s contract.
USA international Tyler Adams will undergo a medical examination within the next 24 hours in preparation for his move to Stamford Bridge.
Adams joined Leeds from RB Leipzig for £20m during the previous summer but experienced relegation in his debut season with the club.
Chelsea’s aim is to secure the acquisitions of two midfielders before the transfer window closes on September 1. They submitted a bid of £48m for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia on Wednesday.
In their pursuit of strengthening the midfield, the Blues also pursued Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, with a series of offers turned down, the latest one amounting to £80m.
Brighton has valued Caicedo at £100m, and despite the player’s desire to join Chelsea, it remains uncertain whether he will remain at the club after the transfer window concludes, as expressed by Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.
