Barcelona’s defender, Ronald Araujo, has recovered from his injury and is ready to play in the upcoming La Liga matches.
Barcelona encountered a challenging beginning to their LaLiga title defense. They drew against Getafe on matchday one but managed to conquer Cadiz in another demanding fixture over the weekend.
Xavi Hernandez had to do without Ronald Araujo for the match against Cadiz because the Uruguayan suffered a hamstring injury last week. This setback will keep him sidelined for at least one month, which is a significant blow for the Catalan side.
In addition to Araujo, Barcelona had another center-back, new signing Inigo Martinez, sidelined due to a foot injury. However, Sport reports that Martinez is scheduled to return to full training on Wednesday.
Barcelona finds relief in this news, as they had been relying on Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, and Eric Garcia due to limited central defensive options.
Xavi even deployed Frenkie De Jong in that position against Cadiz, although it’s more likely that De Jong will return to his midfield role when Martinez is back in action.
Martinez won’t be ready for the upcoming weekend’s visit to Villarreal, but his will return for the Osasuna match. This game will be Barcelona’s final fixture before the first international break of the season.
