Peter Schmeichel strongly criticizes unbelievable Onana mistake

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel strongly criticized Andre Onana for gifting Nottingham Forest a straightforward opening goal at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest quickly secured a two-goal advantage, with Taiwo Awoniyi breaking the deadlock in the second minute of the match. In a swift counter-attack, Awoniyi maneuvered past Marcus Rashford and outwitted Onana with a clever move before slotting the ball into the net. Just two minutes later, Willy Boly extended the visitors’ lead with a header.

Legendary former Manchester United goalkeeper Schmeichel heavily condemned Onana for allowing Forest to score the opening goal at Old Trafford easily.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Schmeichel said: “I honestly couldn’t believe what I was seeing for the first goal. So many mistakes and so much went wrong. There’s so much space left behind them, Rashford is the last man, doesn’t win the tackle and Onana makes it easy for Awoniyi. Then it’s 1-0 and 25 seconds after the restart, [Willy] Boly doesn’t move and just heads it in.”

Even though they faced an early setback, the Red Devils orchestrated a remarkable comeback, ultimately securing a 3-2 victory in the match. Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Bruno Fernandes all found the back of the net for the home team.
