Police are looking into a confrontation that occurred in Newcastle city center, during which Magpies’ captain Jamaal Lascelles and his teenage brother were reportedly subjected to an assault.

The 29-year-old defender Jamaal Lascelles and his younger sibling were out on the night of Saturday, August 19, and had visited the Chinawhite nightclub. In the early hours, a skirmish erupted.

Video footage of the incident has been shared on social media platforms.

In the video clip circulating online, Lascelles and his 19-year-old brother are observed becoming involved in an altercation with a group expressing anger.

Reports suggest that Lascelles’ brother was struck with an elbow in an unexpected assault, followed by the hurling of bottles. Subsequently, approximately “six to eight” men became involved in the dispute, launching punches “from various directions.”

Eyewitnesses assert that the individuals attacking Jamaal Lascelles uttered threats, indicating their intention to “shoot” the professional hailing from Nottingham, as he endeavored to shield his sibling – as reported by the Daily Mail.

While Newcastle is holding back from commenting regarding the incident, they are aware of the situation.

Northumbria Police have affirmed that they have initiated an investigation subsequent to a report of disturbances on the street. They have also appealed for additional information regarding the incident.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police has said: “Shortly after 4am on Sunday, August 20, we received a report of disorder involving a number of people on Westgate Road, in Newcastle city centre.
