Sofyan Amrabat joins Man United on loan

Man United have officially announced that they have loaned Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.

Amrabat, who gained attention for his standout performances during Morocco’s journey to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, has been the subject of transfer speculation away from the Serie A side.

United has emerged as the victor in the competition for his signature, sealing his arrival on deadline day.

The Red Devils will pay a €10 million loan fee for Amrabat’s services this season, with the option to convert the move into a permanent transfer next summer for €25 million.

Sofyan Amrabat said: “It is a huge honour to become a Manchester United player. I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams.

“I am a passionate player and want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team. I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players.

His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season.”

Liverpool, along with other interested teams, had considered signing Amrabat this summer. Nevertheless, they lost out on the opportunity and instead chose to acquire Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.

United will confront Arsenal on Sunday, but Amrabat won’t be included in the lineup as he wasn’t registered in time to take part.
