Thiago Silva has reacted to an Instagram post that demanded his exclusion from the team following Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
An Instagram user, talkcfc_, shared a picture on the social media platform after Chelsea’s defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The caption of the post suggested that persisting with Silva as a starter “is becoming a problem” because Mauricio Pochettino prefers to utilize a back four instead of a defensive three, a system in which Silva had previously excelled.
The veteran defender saw the post and responded, defending himself and his place in the side, saying: “If you look closely at the game, we are playing with a line of 4 my friend! But there’s no problem in assuming that I’m also responsible for the defeat. put the pressure on me. No problem yesterday!”
Despite maintaining their spending spree throughout the summer transfer window, Chelsea have experienced a somewhat uneven beginning to the Premier League season.
Defeats to West Ham and Nottingham Forest, sandwiched between a home victory over Luton Town and an opening day draw with Liverpool, have resulted in the Blues occupying 11th place in the league.
Silva is unlikely to be dropped from the starting lineup due to his wealth of experience. He will be aiming to be included in the starting XI when Chelsea faces Bournemouth on September 17th.
