Salah to be rested by Egypt in case of possible Saudi move

Egypt coach Rui Vitoria has decided to rest Mohamed Salah for Egypt’s final Africa Cup of Nations group stage match against Ethiopia.

Originally, Salah was expected to join the national team camp on Monday to prepare for the crucial qualifier against Ethiopia on September 8.

However, according to reports from The Sun, Vitoria has opted to give Salah a rest since Egypt has already secured their qualification to the competition. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old will still participate in the international friendly against Tunisia on September 12.

While Salah’s future at Anfield was uncertain, as Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad allegedly made a £150m ($189m) offer on the deadline day, Liverpool rejected the approach. There is a possibility that the Middle East club may return with an even higher bid in an effort to persuade Liverpool to allow Salah to depart.
