Declan Rice clarifies why he opted to join Arsenal rather than Man City and Chelsea

Declan Rice has clarified that he opted to join Arsenal because he believes in manager Mikel Arteta’s ability to guide and shape his career.

Rice has elaborated that his decision to move to Arsenal was driven by his unwavering confidence in Arteta, particularly considering Arsenal’s second-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Despite rival interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City, it appears that the prospect of collaborating with Arteta was too enticing for the English star to turn down.

Speaking to Joe Cole on Channel Four before the Three Lions played Ukraine, Rice was asked why he chose to move to the Emirates and replied: “I have to say the manager, Mikel.”

“From the moment that I met him I knew he was the one that I wanted to take care of the next part of my career and I just had that gut feeling that Arsenal would bet he club even though there was other interest.

“No (there has not been a big jump up in quality at Arsenal), towards the end of my time at West Ham the players we had were unbelievable. But I would say the difference is the way now I’m having to play is much more advanced (up the pitch).”

Rice has been in the starting lineup for every Arsenal match this season, and he even found the net in the chaotic 3-1 victory over Manchester United just before the international break.
