World Cup winner Julian Alvarez has signed a new contract with Manchester City following a strong first season with the club in England
Julian Alvarez, who joined Manchester City from River Plate in January 2022, has signed a new contract with the club after a strong debut season in England.
Alvarez remains until 2028
The Argentine striker has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions for the team.
The new contract will see the Argentine in the Citizens‘ colors until June 2028.
“This is a very proud moment for me and my family. For a club like City to put their faith in me like this is amazing,” Alvarez told City’s official club website.
“I have been really pleased with my first season here, but I have plenty more I can do. I know I can be better, and City offer me everything I need to fulfil my potential.”
Wth Alvarez combining well with Erling Haaland whenever the two play together or him covering the Norwegian’s absence when he is not in the squad. It certainly seems that the Argentine has a bright future at the Etihad Stadium.
There were also suggestions that Barcelona may be looking to sign Alvarez. However, with this extension City puts a damper on Barca’s efforts.
