Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund rejects Erling Haaland comparisons

Rasmus Hojlund praised Erling Haaland as the world’s best striker and expressed his reluctance to be compared to the Norwegian superstar.

The Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, who arrived at the club in the summer, declined comparisons to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, citing that it’s still early in his career, while Haaland has already established himself as the best striker globally and in the Premier League.

Speaking to TV2, Hojlund said, “I hope that one day I can reach his level, but right now, I think it is too early. Erling is in any case the world’s best striker, if not the world’s best footballer. I don’t really want to be compared to him, but I hope that one day I can be like him. Who knows? I am only 20 years old. We will have to see what it can end up with.”

After joining the Red Devils, the Danish international featured in eight matches and netted three goals. He had a remarkable season with Atalanta last year, scoring 16 goals in 42 appearances for the Italian club.

In contrast, Haaland made an impressive Premier League debut, setting a record with 36 league goals and a total of 52 for the Cityzens.

They will meet in the upcoming Manchester derby on October 29, when their respective clubs clash in the Premier League.
