Takehiro Tomiyasu will not be joining Japan for their upcoming matches due to an injury he sustained while playing in the Europa League against Sporting
Japan has two upcoming matches in the KIRIN Challenge Cup 2023 against Uruguay on March 24 and Colombia on March 28.
However, Tomiyasu will not be able to play in the tournament due to his injury sustained during Arsenal’s Europa League match against Sporting. The defender has been replaced by Hiroki Machida in the squad.
Tomiyasu will be absent from the Palace game
After overstretching in a lunge to stop a dangerous Sporting attack during Arsenal’s Europa League clash, Takehiro Tomiyasu was substituted by Mikel Arteta.
The manager confirmed after the game that the injury was serious and he is uncertain when Tomiyasu will return.
There are also concerns over William Saliba, who is unlikely to be included in the squad to face Crystal Palace.
Due to Tomiyasu’s injury, Ben White will play as a right full-back for Arteta’s team during their upcoming Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
