Luis Diaz took to Instagram to share a story promoting a march to support his kidnapped father. It was the first public statement from the Liverpool forward regarding the situation.
The post urged the entire community of Barranca, Colombia, Diaz’s hometown, to unite and participate in the march, demanding the liberation of his father, Luis Manuel, without delay.
On Tuesday afternoon, local time, the event unfolded as supporters assembled along the streets, holding white balloons and chanting in unison, advocating for the release of Luis Manuel.
Since news broke of his parents’ kidnapping on Sunday, Diaz’s decision to repost the advertisement serves as his initial public statement on the matter.
According to reports, both Luis Manuel and Diaz’s mother, Cilenis Marulanda, were abducted by four armed individuals on motorcycles while they were out purchasing watermelons. While Marulanda was subsequently released, the whereabouts of Luis Manuel remain unknown.
Recent updates from Colombia have raised concerns that Diaz’s father may no longer be within the country, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the situation.
