Ibrahima Konate open to leaving Liverpool for PSG opportunity

Ibrahima Konate, the Liverpool star, said he wouldn’t decline the chance to leave the Reds if Paris Saint-Germain were to make a move.

The Parisian side has constructed the core of their team with French nationals, and Konate, a crucial member of Les Bleus under Didier Deschamps, could prove to be a valuable addition to the Ligue 1 powerhouses. Konate expressed his eagerness to join the French champions. However, the defender admitted that it’s not a primary focus at the moment.

Following the draw against Luton Town, the 24-year-old, who hails from Paris, was asked if he had ever envisioned himself donning a PSG shirt. He said:  “If I said no, I’d be lying, but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives? Not at all.”

“PSG has made sure to recruit players who understand each other well and who play with each other for the France national team. Even for the people and the Parisian fans, it makes them happy. It’s what they’ve been waiting for for years, having Parisian players or at least French players in the team.”

Since his arrival at the Merseysiders in 2021, Konate has played a vital role for Liverpool, accumulating 64 appearances in various competitions. This season, he has been a steadfast presence at the heart of the defense, featuring in 11 matches. Additionally, Konate has represented France in international competitions, with 12 appearances to his name.

On Thursday, November 9, Konate and Liverpool will confront PSG’s representative, Toulouse, in the Europa League.
