Rice would shatter the British transfer record, claims Moyes

Chelsea’s recent £107million acquisition of Enzo Fernandez broke the British transfer record but Moyes thinks that Declan Rice would top that

West Ham boss David Moyes claims that if Declan Rice were to move in the summer, he would set a new British transfer record.

David Moyes believes Rice is a player capable of breaking British transfer records

West Ham United’s skipper has long been linked to a number of top 6 clubs but recently there have been a lot of rumors suggesting that Arsenal might go in for him in the summer with Chelsea also keeping an eye on the situation.

With Chelsea recent signing of the Argentine Enzo Fernandez for a British record of £107million, it now seems unlikely that the Blues opt to pursue Rice as well. However, Hammers boss David Moyes believes that Rice’s value is even higher than that of Fernandez and would in fact, “blow it out of the water”.

“Undoubtedly Declan is going to be a top player. He’ll be a British transfer record if he ever leaves West Ham,” Moyes told the BBC after West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.

“There’s a lot of talk about it and when you see what’s going about for the prices, I think Dec will be blowing that out of the water, that’s for sure, when it comes around.”

“Undoubtedly Declan is going to be a top player. He’ll be a British transfer record if he ever leaves West Ham,”

Moyes went on to say that he wishes Rice doesn’t move in the Summer. Although the English midfielder has only 18 months left on his contract and if West Ham were to cash in on the player, the summer of 2023 would be their last chance. They might even get a British transfer fee’s worth of money for him!
