Gary Neville: Arsenal can win the League this season

Gary Neville has backed Arsenal to end their 20-year wait for the Premier League title, despite what he considers a “slow” start to the season.

Arsenal is doing well in the league, sitting third after 12 games, just a point behind Manchester City. Neville thinks their defense, stronger midfield, and talented players like Saka and Martinelli are crucial for their title hopes. He believes they won’t collapse like last season and will do better in the business end of the season.

“I think that Arsenal can win the league this season.” Gary Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast. “Despite starting slow, the football will come, the football that we saw from them last season. The fact that they’ve started a little bit slower, I never think is a bad thing, they’re sat there in the pack behind top.

“But I do think that when the football comes, and it could come after Christmas in March which is the right time, they could be the opposite of last season – a bit of a slow start and stronger finish.”

Gary Neville has expressed reservations about Arsenal’s central striking position, emphasizing the need for a top-class striker. His concerns are particularly directed at Eddie Nketiah’s performance in the Premier League, and the potential fitness concerns surrounding Gabriel Jesus. Neville suggests that strengthening the striking department could be crucial for Arsenal’s title ambitions.

“My worry with Arsenal is a centre-forward. I like Jesus and Nketiah. But for me they are a number two and three. They need a number one.” Gary Neville said.

Arsenal is scheduled to face Brentford in a Premier League fixture on November 25 at the Gtech Community Stadium.
