The A-list Hollywood actress Julia Roberts has once again declared her loyalty to Manchester United.
During her appearance on the Graham Norton Show, where she shared the stage with Cher, Timothee Chalamet, and Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts was asked about her passion for football and Manchester United. Having witnessed a pre-season game between United and Arsenal in New York, the Hollywood star has also been a guest at Old Trafford on previous occasions.
When Norton asked Roberts how she became a United fan, she replied: “I’ve been to Old Trafford, I’m a true fan… I have three children and when they were really little and started playing soccer they started watching it on TV. I didn’t ever realise how exciting it was to watch it on television. We just got so into it and somehow Manchester United just became our team, the Moder family team. We became sort of possessed.”
Julia Roberts admits she became ‘possessed’ with Manchester United!
Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, holds a profound admiration for Julia Roberts. He expressed his disappointment when Roberts opted to visit Manchester United instead of City during her time in the city.
He said at the time: “Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester – not in the 90s when Sir Alex [Ferguson] was winning titles and titles and titles. She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, right? And She went to visit Man United. She didn’t come to see us. That’s why even if I win the Champions League it will not compare for the fact that Julia Roberts came to Manchester and didn’t come to see us.”
This evening, Julia Roberts’ beloved Manchester United will visit St James’ Park with the aim of bolstering their campaign to secure Champions League football for the next season. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has recently stated that everyone is against his side, and unfortunately for him, the Hollywood star will also be in that category tonight.
