Kobbie Mainoo’s breakthrough: Man Utd starlet’s salary boost

Manchester United’s rising talent Kobbie Mainoo is set for a significant salary increase after making it to Erik ten Hag’s first team this season.

As per the Daily Star, the young sensation is on the brink of doubling his weekly salary at Old Trafford without entering into a new contract. The 18-year-old midfielder, who became a part of the club at the age of nine, presently receives £10,000 per week. However, a clause in his contract mandates a substantial 100% increase in pay once he solidifies his position as a regular in the first team.

The midfielder, hailing from Stockport, garnered significant praise during his full Premier League debut in a 3-0 triumph over Everton. He continued to make valuable contributions as a second-half substitute in the midweek 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in the Champions League. Despite the Red Devils implementing salary constraints for their academy graduates, Mainoo’s exceptional performance has compelled them to grant him a salary increase.

Ten Hag once again assigned Kobbie Mainoo with a starting role against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday, and the youngster stood out as one of the top performers, surpassing his teammates. However, in the 80th minute, Ten Hag substituted him to inject fresh legs into the pitch before initiating an all-out offensive against the Magpies in their pursuit of an equalizer that ultimately eluded them.

Mainoo could have secured his matchday windfall much earlier in the season if an unfortunate ankle injury hadn’t sidelined him until late October. He will be eager to display his skills when United hosts Chelsea next on Wednesday evening in their upcoming Premier League fixture.
