Arteta jokingly claps back at Pep Guardiola comments

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has brilliantly responded to Pep Guardiola’s remarks regarding “not doing a Mikel Arteta” after Manchester City’s 3-3 draw with Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola mentioned Mikel Arteta when discussing referee decisions after Manchester City’s 3-3 draw with Tottenham. Guardiola made it clear that he wouldn’t react in a way similar to Arteta, who previously faced FA scrutiny for criticizing officiating after a defeat to Newcastle.

Given Mikel Arteta’s history as Manchester City’s assistant manager from 2016 to 2019 before taking over as Arsenal’s boss, it’s understandable that he refrains from responding to Pep Guardiola’s comments.

Asked in a press conference if he smiled at Guardiola’s comments, Arteta said: “Onto the next one please, thank you!”

Pressed on whether “doing a Mikel” could go down in the footballing lexicon, he replied: “I don’t know. I’m not sure. I have enough in my garden and on my plate as well, so let’s move on.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is focused on preparing his team for their upcoming match against Luton Town on Tuesday. A victory in this game would extend their lead at the top of the table by five points. The two teams haven’t faced each other since 1991 in Division One.
