Reports suggest that Patrick Vieira is seeking a return to the Premier League and is being considered by Leeds United as their new manager.
Crystal Palace sacked the French manager following a run of 12 winless matches, leaving them only three points clear of relegation.
Despite this setback, talkSPORT reports that the 46-year-old remains highly regarded by those in charge at Elland Road. It is possible that they will approach Vieira when Javi Gracia’s contract ends at the conclusion of the season.
Vieira was dismissed by Crystal Palace a few weeks ago
According to the report, Vieira was among the candidates considered to replace Jesse Marsch in February, following the American’s dismissal as manager after a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
The Frenchman is keen to return to management in England and feels that his sacking by Crystal Palace, despite leading them to a 12th-place finish and the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season, was unfair.
After parting ways with Vieira, Palace appointed Roy Hodgson for a second stint as manager at Selhurst Park.
According to The Athletic, the players became unsettled during Vieira’s tenure and the Frenchman was also frustrated with the club’s recruitment.
On Saturday, the Premier League will see Leeds visiting Emirates Stadium to face the current leaders of the league, Arsenal.
