Jesse Marsch expressed his confidence in his former assistant Bradley Carnell, stating that he believed he would be successful with the St. Louis City SC
On the MLS 360 show, Jesse Marsch, who previously managed Leeds United, talked about Bradley Carnell’s impressive start to his role as head coach of MLS expansion club St. Louis City SC.
Marsch had previously hired Carnell as an assistant coach in 2017 when he was managing the New York Red Bulls, and he expressed pride in seeing him succeed in a head coaching position in MLS.
Marsch praises ‘hardworking’ former assistant Carnell
“It’s obviously incredibly impressive [what Bradley is doing],” Marsch said.
“The day we first brought Bradley into our team in New York, we could see that he was a good guy, a serious guy, a humble guy, a hardworking coach. He knew a lot of what he wanted to be as a football coach. Obviously, it’s an incredible accomplishment so far, but I’m just really happy for him and not totally surprised.”
Despite suffering their first-ever MLS loss over the weekend against Minnesota United, St. Louis City SC still found some positives to take away from the match.
They were able to dominate possession and had several chances on goal, but were denied by the outstanding performance of Minnesota United goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.
St. Louis City SC will face off against the Seattle Sounders in an upcoming match. The game will be a crucial one for both teams, as a win for Seattle could potentially move them into first place in the Western Conference, currently occupied by St. Louis.
