Liverpool star Mohamed Salah empathizes with the victims of the Hamas-Israel war

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah expresses his empathy for grieving families affected by the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict this Christmas.

The Israel-Hamas war has inflicted severe damage on large parts of Gaza, resulting in the death of over 20,400 Palestinians and the displacement of nearly all of the territory’s 2.3 million residents.

The increasing death toll among Israeli troops, with 17 casualties since Friday and 156 since the ground offensive commenced, raises concerns about potential declines in public support for the war.

The conflict originated when Hamas-led militants attacked communities in southern Israel on October 7, resulting in 1,200 casualties and 240 individuals being taken hostage.

Egypt and Liverpool star Salah posted a message on X, formerly Twitter, saying: “Christmas is a time when families get together and celebrate.

“With the brutal war going on in the Middle East, especially the death and destruction in Gaza, this year we get to Christmas with very heavy hearts and we share the pain of those families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones.

“Please do not forget them and do not get used to their suffering. Merry Christmas.”
