Current Burnley manager Vincent Kompany rolled his eyes when he heard the charges laid against his old club; saying: “Football can’t afford to point the finger too many times”.
Kompany questions City critics’ motives
Manchester City have been charged with over 100 breaches of Premier League rules on Monday. The club may face heavy punishment, if found guilty, including being kicked out of the league entirely.
This hasn’t gone down well with former club captain Vincent Kompany who is now managing Burnley in the Championship.
“I kind of look at it and sometimes roll my eyes a little bit.” Kompany said.
“No doubt there’s a lot of righteousness in the world to come and tell you what you’ve done wrong, and then if everybody looks at themselves, I think the football industry, in general, is not one that can afford to point the finger too many times.
“I kind of look at it and sometimes roll my eyes a little bit.” Kompany said.
“I think all of you will have a little bit of a smile on your face to know what the football industry is about. I’m very skeptical when people start pointing fingers.
“Do the best for yourself and let’s try and improve all the time but I’m a little bit skeptical when the fingers get pointed easily.”
Burnley, who are currently at the top of the Championship table having lost only 2 games all season, are having a tight schedule. Kompany admitted the schedule to help him distance himself from the situation.
“The fixtures actually help me because I’ve had no time to look into it or feel emotionally connected to what’s happening,” Kompany said.
