Former Manchester United attacker Louis Saha believes that Karim Benzema can solve the attacking issues for the Red Devils.
There have been rumors connecting Benzema to a surprising departure from Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, only six months into his stint in the Middle East.
Initially praised as a success, Benzema’s transition from Madrid to Jeddah saw him quickly making an impact in goal-scoring. However, the situation has shifted as of the beginning of 2024.
Al Ittihad announced that they allowed Benzema to skip training for a trip to Madrid, fueling speculations that he is exploring negotiations for his departure.
In 2024, it seems improbable for the defending champions of the Saudi Pro League to keep their title, and Benzema may emerge as a short-term prospect for a European team. Louis Saha, his former France teammate, has hinted at the possibility of Manchester United being an option.
Louis Saha told Diario AS: “Benzema would change United’s attack, and that’s exactly what they need. He would score goals and ensure better team play. For now it’s just a dream, but Karim is still very professional.”
So far this season, Manchester United has struggled to find the back of the net in the Premier League, scoring only 22 goals, which ranks as the joint third lowest in the English top flight. Additionally, the Red Devils have been eliminated from European competition.
