Arteta gives an update on Zinchenko and Jesus injuries

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has chosen not to disclose updates on the injuries of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.

The team has faced numerous injuries this season, impacting their performance compared to the previous season, with the Brazilian striker and Ukrainian fullback being the latest casualties.

However, Arteta opted not to share details regarding their injuries. On a positive note, he did provide an optimistic update on Jurrien Timber’s recovery from an ACL injury.

When talking to the press, Mikel Arteta said [via]: “Zinchenko and Jesus? We still have a few on that list that we have unfortunately not been able to get back. Individually I’m not going to tell you exactly how everyone is.”

“There is a possibility,” he said when asked if Timber will play again. “But at the moment he’s still really far from competing and that’s the realistic picture of it. We’re hopeful that he can have an impact at the end of the season if everything goes well there looks like a chance that can happen but I think it’s too early to make that call.”

In the event that Zinchenko is unavailable, Jakub Kiwior is likely to resume his role at left-back. Kiwior has faced criticism after being substituted at halftime in the recent matches against Fulham and Liverpool, following his starts.

As of now, Arsenal occupies the fourth position in the league, trailing behind Liverpool by five points. Arteta’s team is set to face Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on January 20, aiming to move into second place if results go in their favor.
