Arteta reveals his plans for Emile Smith Rowe’s future at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta addressed the rumors surrounding Emile Smith Rowe’s potential departure from Arsenal in the January transfer window, following a decline in his playing time.

Smith Rowe has faced challenges securing regular minutes at Arsenal, primarily due to injury issues, resulting in a decrease in his position within the squad. With only one Premier League start this season, speculation arose about a possible January move. However, Arteta spoke positively about the midfielder and suggested that he might be in line for increased playing time.

He told reporters: “I’m really happy with Emile, he’s on the right trajectory now he’s settled and he’s training really well. You know that I’m not going to talk about any individual situation.

No change, Emile is Emile. He’s got incredible qualities, we are really happy to have him and what he needs now is chances to put all those desired qualities on the pitch. In order to do that, we have to give him minutes.”

Emile Smith Rowe’s versatility makes him a valuable option for Mikel Arteta, capable of playing on the wing or in a central role. While West Ham has emerged as the latest club showing interest in the midfielder, it remains uncertain whether Arsenal would entertain the idea of letting him go in January. Arteta’s statements imply that he is not currently considering a winter transfer for the 23-year-old.
