James Maddison hailed Jude Bellingham as ‘absolutely incredible,’ reflecting on the remarkable rise of his England teammate.
The Tottenham star engaged in a conversation with Stephen Hendry on the snooker world champion’s Cue Tips series – being a massive fan of the sport – and became enthusiastic when the topic shifted to England’s 20-year-old midfield phenomenon.
When asked by Hendry if there was significant competition for his position in the England set-up, Maddison chuckled and replied: “No, not much. Just Bellingham!”
“He’s ridiculous. So good. He’s a great lad as well, Jude. I absolutely love him. For such a young kid, his mentality is like that of a 30-year-old. He loves footy, you know when you just know someone loves football. That’s why me and him get on so well. He’s just obsessed with the game and I love that about him.”
Maddison has had a front-row seat to witness Jude Bellingham’s remarkable ascent. Establishing himself as a pivotal player for Real Madrid, the 20-year-old has already participated in two major tournaments for England and is poised to be the cornerstone of their European Championship campaign this summer in Germany.
The former Leicester player will continue his pursuit of full fitness following the injury that sidelined him for nearly three months, as Spurs face Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
