Arsenal is monitoring Athletic Club’s Nico Williams as they contemplate summer signings to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The Mirror reports that Arsenal has been scouting the Spain international as they seek to enhance their wing options for next season. Alongside the 21-year-old Nico Williams, they’re also considering Wolves’ Pedro Neto.
Acquiring Williams from the Basque team this summer would come at a hefty cost for Arsenal. He recently extended his contract with Athletic Club until 2027, reflecting his long-term commitment. Nico Williams, a product of Athletic Club’s youth academy, has contributed five goals and 10 assists in La Liga and the Copa del Rey this season.
Arsenal is exploring new signings, anticipating key departures in the upcoming transfer window. Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey, and Eddie Nketiah might all be sold by the north London team at the end of the current season.
Before preparing for the 2024-25 campaign, Arteta’s team aims to sustain their push for the Premier League title this season. They currently rank third, trailing leaders Liverpool by two points after 23 matches.
Arsenal will face West Ham United in the EPL on Sunday, having previously lost 2-0 to them in late December.
Athletic Bilbao will play against bottom-table side Almeria on Monday night.
