Mikel Arteta: We want to win the title!

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta asserts that his team is aiming for the league title following their dominant performance against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Arsenal took the lead with Martin Odegaard’s goal in the fourth minute, paving the way for a 5-0 victory. Bukayo Saka scored twice, while Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz also contributed goals, showcasing Arsenal’s relentless display.

Sitting just two points behind the league leaders, Liverpool, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is confident that his team is developing the consistency necessary to overcome the challenges posed by Liverpool and Manchester City.

Speaking to the BBC’s Match of the Day after Saturday’s win, Arteta said: “At the moment all we can do is win our games and after our big two wins away from home we have a tough one in the Champions League at Porto.

“I hope we can do it [win the title] because we are there but it is about consistency and you see the standards of the other teams. We want it, that’s for sure.”

Questions arose during Arsenal’s festive period slump regarding whether the team should pursue a striker in the January transfer window. However, the Gunners have since rebounded with a five-game winning streak, netting 21 goals in the process. Arteta will be pleased to witness goals being scored by various players.

Now, Arsenal’s focus shifts to the Champions League as they prepare to face Porto in the first leg of their last-sixteen tie in Portugal on Wednesday.
