Dele Alli back in training but may still miss the rest of the season

Reports indicate that Dele Alli has resumed training on the field, signaling a positive step in his recovery journey.

Former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has returned to training after a longtime being on the sidelines. However, despite progress, there are concerns that the Everton midfielder could miss the remainder of the season following his groin surgery in January.

Following the procedure, Dele has diligently adhered to a rehabilitation program crafted by Everton’s medical team, focusing on his overall fitness and well-being. He has been stationed in London during the initial stages of his recovery to remain close to his family.

Dele Alli’s future at Everton is up in the air

Despite the setbacks, Dele remains positive to repay Everton’s trust in him and has displayed glowing signs of progress. His return to Finch Farm marks the next phase of his recovery, where he will concentrate on regaining strength before gradually reintegrating into full training. While a comeback before the season’s end remains a possibility, caution is key, given the nature of his recent injury challenges.

The situation is further complicated by the contractual arrangements between Everton and Tottenham, Dele’s parent club. An agreement stipulated that Everton would pay Tottenham £10 million upon Dele reaching 20 appearances, yet he has only made 13 appearances, with just one of them as a starter.

Discussions regarding potential changes to the agreement, including a payment clause if Dele opts for a permanent move to Everton, are expected to resume in the summer.

Despite the uncertainties, both Everton and Tottenham are committed to finding a resolution that serves Dele’s best interests. While Dele is eager to continue his Premier League career and contribute to Everton’s success, the club’s ongoing ownership transition and relegation battle add complexity to the situation.

However, Everton manager Sean Dyche is prepared to welcome Dele back into the squad once he is fit for selection. However, clarity on his future may not be forthcoming until the summer, with decisions likely influenced by prevailing circumstances.
