Liverpool won 3-2 against Nottingham Forest, securing consecutive victories thanks to Mohamed Salah’s decisive goal, which Jota claims has brought back the winning spirit to the Reds.
According to Diogo Jota, Liverpool’s comeback victory against Nottingham Forest demonstrates the team’s renewed confidence and ability to bounce back from setbacks. Despite Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White scoring against them, Jota’s double and Mohamed Salah’s late goal secured a hard-fought 3-2 win for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team face a tough task to secure a top-four Premier League finish, but they have regained some momentum with two consecutive wins following a five-match winless streak.
The Reds showed resilience in their comeback draw with Arsenal and subsequent victories over Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, and Jota is optimistic about their chances of continuing their improved form.
“Twice [we had to respond]. I think that is important, that shows that the team is believing more in ourselves each time, and that’s really important to take for the future,” he told the club’s website.
“It gives confidence to the team. We believe in what we are doing and against Arsenal, the win was there for us, but unfortunately in the end we could not take it.
“But it’s two in a row already and this is the only way we can fight to be in the highest possible position at the table.”
Jota, who scored twice against Leeds on Monday, has now scored a total of four goals in his last two Premier League games after going 20 matches without scoring in the competition.
Reflecting on the end of his goal drought, Jota said: “I said before the first goal, it’s always hard when it doesn’t arrive so easily, but then everything seems to flow.”
