Bayern Munich center back Kim Min-Jae looked back on his remarkable season with Napoli and acknowledged that he had ‘learned a lot’ from Giovanni Di Lorenzo.
Last summer, the 26-year-old made the move from Fenerbahce to Napoli, where he quickly adapted to the Italian league and established himself as its top centre back. His significant contribution played a vital role in Napoli’s triumphant journey to clinching the Scudetto, putting an end to their 33-year wait for the title.
Impressed by Kim’s performances in Naples, Bayern Munich decided to activate his €50m release clause to secure his services this month.
During a local interview conducted via Calciomercato.com, Kim expressed his thoughts on his recognition for being the standout defender in Serie A.
“When I received the award for Best Defender, I wanted to share it with Kvara, Osimhen and the rest of the team.
“As long as I live, I’ll remember the Napoli fans, they’ve always supported and encouraged me.”
Kim Min-jae spoke about some of his former teammates at Napoli.
“Di Lorenzo was the player who ran the most, he works hard every day and never gives up. I learned a lot from him, I watched him in every game, and I saw that he never complained.
“Osimhen is strong and dominates against defenders, I would never play against them.”
Kim talked about his past association with the previous coach of Napoli, Luciano Spalletti, who resigned from the position after the previous season.
“In an interview given some time ago by Spalletti, he said that according to him I was ready for the Champions League, there couldn’t be a better message than that.
“When we spoke, I immediately understood that Napoli would’ve been the right choice.”
