Roma has officially announced the signing of Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun, who has transferred from Bayer Leverkusen.
Reportedly, the Giallorossi have agreed to a loan deal with a €12 million buy option attached to the Bundesliga side, providing a significant boost to Jose Mourinho’s frontline.
Roma has been actively seeking a new center forward for several months, prompted by Tammy Abraham’s serious injury. Additionally, they are in the process of negotiating a deal for Chelsea’s out-of-favor player, Romelu Lukaku.
Sardar Azmoun spent the last ten years in Zenit, Rostov and Bayer Leverkusen
Today, the Roman side made an official announcement of Azmoun’s arrival with a stylish video, confirming that the 28-year-old will don the number 17 shirt in the Italian capital.
Throughout his 18-month tenure at Bayer Leverkusen, Sardar Azmoun recorded five goals and contributed with five assists in 44 overall appearances, excelling in the role of a supporting second striker.
Azmoun marks Roma’s sixth summer transfer window signing, joining the ranks alongside Evan Ndicka, Houssem Aouar, Renato Sanches, Leandro Paredes, and Rasmus Kristensen.
