Allegri confirms Pogba’s return after serving out punishment

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri insists that Paul Pogba’s suspension due to his tardiness is now over and the Frenchman will be back in the squad

Massimiliano Allegri has stated that Paul Pogba will be included in Juventus’ plans for their upcoming Serie A game against Sampdoria, following his recent disciplinary action. Pogba was not included in Juve’s squad for the Europa League last-16 first-leg win over Freiburg on Thursday after he arrived late for a team meeting the day before the match.

Now that his disciplinary action is over, Paul Pogba will be included in Juventus’ team for their upcoming match against Sampdoria. This comes as Juventus aim to bounce back from their 1-0 loss to Roma and achieve a win in the league.

“Paul is available,” Allegri said at Saturday’s pre-match press conference. “Because he was late once, it doesn’t mean we must keep punishing him.”

Paul Pogba has had several injuries since he returned to Juventus from Manchester United in July and has only played for 34 minutes over two substitute appearances. When asked if Pogba will start for Juventus in Sunday’s game, Allegri didn’t give much away.

“Because he was late once, it doesn’t mean we must keep punishing him.”

“I haven’t decided on the formation yet. There are only two players I know are definitely playing: [Mattia] Perin and [Dusan] Vlahovic.” he added.

Vlahovic, who has started the past four Serie A games but failed to score in any of them, has never gone five consecutive starts without scoring in the competition before. Additionally, he has been sidelined for a significant amount of time this season, but Allegri believes that he is now fully fit.

“Dusan has completely recovered,” Allegri said. “I know he’s our only striker for tomorrow. I’m happy with his performance [against Freiburg] and now he’s physically much better.

“I’m confident in him. All players go through moments like this in their career, especially strikers who are judged on goals.”
