Paul Pogba tests positive for testosterone with a lengthy ban impending

Paul Pogba is said to have received a positive test result for testosterone following Juventus’ match against Udinese in Serie A, and he now has a three-day window to provide a response to the accusation.

According to Corriere della Sera in Italy, Pogba’s anti-doping test conducted after the game revealed the presence of the prohibited substance.

In most top European leagues, it is a standard procedure to conduct anti-doping tests after each match.

Interestingly, Pogba took part in matches against Bologna and Empoli prior to the alleged confirmation of traces of testosterone in the test conducted on the French international.

Paul Pogba has a three-day window to provide a response to the charge and must arrange for a counter-analysis of the test result.

As reported by journalist Colin Millar, if Pogba is determined to be guilty, Serie A doping violations can result in suspensions from playing that can last between two and four years, which could pose a significant issue for the 30-year-old.

This development would be the most recent episode in what has been a turbulent period for the Frenchman.

Pogba had revealed earlier this week that he considered retirement due to an apparent extortion scheme targeting him, which also implicated his brother, Mathias.

Furthermore, he has faced fitness challenges and has participated in only 12 matches for Juventus since his return to the club from Manchester United in 2022.
