Former Milan sporting director Frederic Massara in talks with Roma

Sporting director Frederic Massara, who faced an abrupt departure from Milan in June, held a meeting with Roma director Tiago Pinto last week.

The 54-year-old Frederic Massara, who received the Sporting Director of the Year award at the 2022 Globe Soccer Awards alongside Paolo Maldini, was let go by the Rossoneri at the conclusion of the previous season, indicating a shift in direction under new owner Gerry Cardinale.

Massara was initially linked to the Napoli job when it became evident that Cristiano Giuntoli would be joining Juventus. However, Aurelio De Laurentiis ultimately chose Mauro Meluso.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Massara was spotted in the Stadio Olimpico stands on Sunday, witnessing Roma’s impressive 7-0 victory over Empoli.

After the match, he engaged in a face-to-face discussion with Roma’s sporting director Pinto, during which they had a constructive and positive conversation.

While no definitive decisions were made, they found common ground, and plans are in place for the two parties to meet again in the upcoming weeks to further explore the possibility of Massara returning to Roma.
