Lautaro Martinez talks about personal improvements after hitting four as a substitute for Inter

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez created history by becoming the first Serie A substitute to score four goals.

Lautaro Martinez emphasizes that the most crucial aspect is that Inter emerged victorious in their match against Salernitana.

This performance served as a significant morale boost following their 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo earlier in the week, which had ended their flawless record for the season.

The Nerazzurri had encountered difficulties at the Stadio Arechi until Simone Inzaghi opted to make alterations, including bringing in the Argentine international striker.

“It was crucial for us. We lost a game at San Siro that I don’t think we deserved, but we conceded two goals from our errors, so we had to win today,” Lautaro Martinez told Sky Sport Italia.

“And We created chances in the first half and didn’t finish them off. We came on with the right determination after the break, the one Inter should always have. I scored four goals, but the important thing is that Inter won the game.”

Inter appeared to be unbeatable until the disappointing home loss to Sassuolo, and they are currently sharing the top spot with their crosstown rivals Milan.

“I think we had a bit of a physical dip, as we press high and try to win the ball back as soon as we lose it, so that all takes its toll. The coach makes his choices, the important thing is that we are all ready when called upon to step up.”

Lautaro Martinez is experiencing his most successful start to a season, having scored nine goals in the first seven Serie A matches, in addition to his Champions League equalizer against Real Sociedad. He attributes his development and maturity, both on and off the field, to his life outside of football.

“I try to improve both on the field and off. I have a family, two children now and that helps me to stay focused and centred.”
