Due to Napoli’s disappointing start to the season, Aurelio De Laurentiis has chosen to part ways with manager Rudi Garcia. The 1-0 loss to Empoli on Sunday marked the end of Garcia’s tenure after just four months in charge.
As Napoli explored options for a replacement, initial discussions with Igor Tudor faced obstacles, particularly related to the renewal clause in his contract and the salary demands. Subsequently, Walter Mazzarri emerged as an unexpected alternative.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has resolved any uncertainties about the next coach and opted to proceed with Walter Mazzarri. They are set to meet this afternoon to finalize the details of his seven-month contract.
Walter Mazzarri, the 62-year-old coach, is content to serve as the interim head coach of Napoli until the end of the season. His salary demands are also significantly lower than those of Igor Tudor.
