Luciano Spalletti is guiding Napoli to their first Serie A title in three decades and Napoli president De Laurentiis is assured that he will stay at Napoli afterwards
Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, expressed his belief that Luciano Spalletti will stay with the club even after his contract ends this season.
Napoli has a comfortable lead of 19 points over Lazio in Serie A and is poised to win their first league title since the days of Diego Maradona.
‘Spalletti will stay in Naples’ – De Laurentiis
Napoli has set a club record by earning 71 points in the first 27 games of the Serie A season. In addition to their success in the league, Napoli will also make their debut in the Champions League quarterfinals next month against Milan.
The club reportedly has the option to extend coach Luciano Spalletti’s contract for an additional 12 months, although Spalletti has stated that he will not discuss a new deal until after the title is secured.
Speaking at an event in Naples, De Laurentiis recalled: “To throw everyone off the track, I went for [Sergio] Conceicao and [Massimiliano] Allegri, who came to give me football lessons in my office four times.
“In the end, Luciano came to bring us back to the top three in Italy and also last year, something different could have happened.
“If the rules of football were different, perhaps we would have brought the Scudetto to Naples a few other times already. Spalletti will stay in Naples.”
On April 2, Napoli will welcome Milan to their home ground for their upcoming Serie A match. The first leg of their Champions League quarter-final encounter against Milan will take place at San Siro 10 days later.
