Tottenham agrees personal terms with Genoa’s Radu Dragusin but their business is not done

Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement on personal terms with Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

Spurs are actively seeking a new center-back and have identified signing one as a key priority for the January transfer window.

Earlier this week, there were reports of Tottenham’s interest in the 21-year-old Dragusin, but the completion of the deal was anticipated to face complexities not highlighted in the Italian media.

Sources now indicate that Spurs and Dragusin have reached a general consensus on personal terms, although this aspect was not expected to pose a significant hurdle.

Tottenham and Genoa are currently engaged in negotiations over a transfer fee, which is expected to be the primary challenge in finalizing the deal. Initially informed that a fee of approximately £20 million would be sufficient, Spurs discovered this isn’t the case, as Genoa is holding out for a larger sum.

Radu Dragusin isn’t the sole center-back under consideration by Tottenham. In the event of a failure to reach an agreement with Genoa, Spurs are prepared to explore other potential targets. Previously, Tottenham opted for Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven over David Raya and Edmond Tapsoba during the summer transfer window.

Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice is a prominent name on Tottenham’s shortlist, but complications persist regarding a potential transfer fee. Other players like Ben Godfrey, Tosin Adarabioyo, Lloyd Kelly, and Sebastian Caceres have also attracted Tottenham’s interest as they extensively search for suitable options across Europe.

Tottenham’s season faced setbacks with a hamstring injury to summer signing Van de Ven, who had been one of the Premier League’s best defenders until his injury in November. Additionally, Cristian Romero has been unavailable due to suspension and is currently sidelined with a similar muscle problem.
