AC Milan have confirmed the extent of Ismael Bennacer’s injuries after running several tests on the star midfielder
Sky Sport Italia reports that medical tests conducted by Milan indicate Ismael Bennacer has returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with an injury, making him unavailable for the upcoming match against Bologna in Serie A on Saturday at 19:45 GMT.
Despite the early elimination of Algeria from the AFCON tournament, Bennacer was initially hoped to be fit for the game, but he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury, preventing his participation this weekend. While the injury is not severe, it is sufficient to keep the midfielder out of the upcoming Serie A fixture.
In addition to Bennacer’s absence, Milan faces the unavailability of Samuel Chukwueze, who is still participating in the AFCON tournament. Furthermore, Mattia Caldara, Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, and Tommaso Pobega are sidelined due to injuries.
Bologna has Stefan Posch suspended, and while Alexis Saelemaekers and Adama Soumaoro are expected to return, they might be on the bench. Dan Ndoye remains on the treatment table with a thigh strain.
