Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has engaged in psychological tactics by labeling Inter Milan as the ‘Scudetto favorites.’
Although the Serie A title race is tight, with just a two-point gap between Juventus and Inter Milan, even though Inter has played two fewer games, Allegri contends that his rivals will maintain their status as favorites.
When asked about the match against Inter Milan, Allegri said [via Football Italia]: “The Derby d’Italia is always marvellous to participate in, the stadium will be packed and we will go there trying to get a result against what is I repeat the best team in Italy and the clear favourites to win the Scudetto.”
Juventus missed an opportunity to lead the league ahead of the Derby d’Italia against Inter Milan by securing only a draw against Empoli last night. The outcome allows Inter Milan the chance to reclaim the top spot in the league when they face Fiorentina later tonight.
The next game between Juventus and Inter Milan on Sunday, February 4, will determine their positions at the top of the league, and regardless of the outcome, the two sides will remain closely matched in the standings.
