Coach Massimiliano Allegri admits that Paul Pogba has become a “different player” following his injury problems that he had at Juventus this season
According to coach Massimiliano Allegri, Paul Pogba made a brief appearance in Juventus’ 1-0 loss to Sassuolo on Sunday after being sidelined by injury for the majority of the season.
Allegri acknowledges that Pogba is still not ready to play full matches and will need to manage his playing time carefully in the weeks ahead.
“Pogba is a strong player, but right now he’s not in the ideal condition to play a 90-minute match. He is still behind athletically, today was already better than last time but he is still behind,” the Juve boss said to DAZN.
“We all see that he is a different player. Slowly, we’ll bring him maybe to half an hour and then later. The important thing is that it gives consistency, the knee is responding well.”
After returning to Juventus last summer on a free transfer from Manchester United, Paul Pogba’s comeback hasn’t gone as expected due to his fitness concerns.
He made his first appearance of the season in February and has only featured in four games in total in Serie A and the Europa League, playing a mere 46 minutes.
