No one has even come close to challenging Napoli for the scudetto title this season and Spalletti has claimed Maradona has inspired such a run
Luciano Spalletti says the way Diego Maradona has inspired Napoli this season is why they have been unstoppable.
The Eternal Diego guides Napoli still
Napoli have won two Serie A titles with the last one being in 1990. Both of those titles were delivered by a side that had the late Diego Maradona leading it. And now, 33 years later, Napoli are set to win their third title ever as they move 16 points clear of second-place Inter.
“We want to try to resemble him as much as possible and we will always carry him with us for the teachings he has given us.”
Luciano Spalletti, who’ll win his first Serie A title at the age of 64, says that Maradona’s influence is with Napoli and the way they conduct themselves.
“We have him there. In the locker room there’s that statue of Maradona that many go to touch. I do too when we go out on the pitch because we want to bring him into the quality of our team.” Spalletti revealed.
“He was someone who won through his quality, through all those things that fans like. We want to try to resemble him as much as possible and we will always carry him with us for the teachings he has given us.”
Napoli’s star player alongside Osimhen, has been Georgian youngster Kvechia Kvaratskhelia. The Goergian has scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists so far this season.
Spalletti had this to say about him: “He is truly someone who has sensitivity in dribbling, in stroking the ball, in making those tricks that are so difficult to defend against.
“Salah is one of those who has this quality in close quarters and in finishing so precisely. That he didn’t feel the pressure, it can be seen that he is a calm boy. He will have a great future.”
